About: Raquel was born in Cuba and spent a few years living in Venezuela before relocating to Miami, FL. In her free time, she likes going to the beach, exploring national parks, and spending time with her family. Prior to entering medical school, Raquel worked in the field of mental health, which ignited her passion for psychiatry. She enjoys working with people of all ages and from all walks of life.

About: Sean has long been interested in all aspects of psychiatry and is eager to learn more. He is particularly interested in mood and psychotic disorders and thinks he might like to specialize in child/adolescent or consult liaison psychiatry. His hobbies and interests include watching sports (NFL, NBA), running, working out, playing guitar, traveling, and spending time at the beach with family and friends.

About: Kyle is a Tampa native who was drawn to psychiatry due to its blend of diverse, abstract diagnoses and focus on human connection. His academic pursuits include child psychiatry and consult-liaison psychiatry. He has a wide and growing list of hobbies, including training/teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Salsa dancing, singing, playing guitar, and most recently woodworking.

About: Hirel was raised in Georgia, where he attended the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. Growing up in the south, he has always had a natural affinity for warm weather and relaxing beaches. So he is excited to be in Tampa, Florida for his psychiatry residency. When he is not working, he plans to spend time at the beach and run the beautiful trails in the city. His interests in Psychiatry are broad but include Addiction Psychiatry, Neurostimulation and Medical Education within Psychiatry. Specifically at USF, he was attracted to the opportunity to be a part of the expansive TMS treatment programs as a resident.

About: As he approaches the end of his second decade in Tampa, Julio has come to appreciate the diversity that the bay area has to offer and feels blessed that he is able to round out his medical training at home. His current academic interests include general psychiatry and women’s mental health with a focus on the treatment of depression and anxiety, neurostimulation techniques, and psychotherapy. He is also interested in the integration of complementary therapies like acupuncture and yoga alongside more traditional therapeutic regimens. In his off hours, you might find him lifting weights, gaming, or checking out the coffee and teahouse scene in Tampa.

About: Alexander has been interested in psychiatry since high school while growing up in Vienna, Virginia.  He took this interest with him to medical school and is now pursuing it through residency at USF. He has a particular interest in psychotic disorders and hopes to unravel the many mysteries the field has to offer. When not at the hospital, Alexander enjoys traveling, playing goalie for his local adult league hockey team, and eating at Steak n’ Shake.

About: Katherine (Katie) was born in Miami, FL and raised in Naples, FL. Many of the fields of psychiatry appeal to her and she hopes that she will find out what to specialize with in time. Her hobbies include gardening, fishkeeping, reading, and golf. Katie also enjoys watching movies and spending time with friends.

Christine Whitehead

About: Christine was born and raised in sunny SW Florida and is overjoyed to be working and living in Tampa, where she can spend time with her family. Her interest in neurobiology led her to psychiatry with sub-specialty interest in geriatric psychiatry and neuromodulation. Christine enjoys reading fiction and classic literature, watching anime (with hopes of going to the local conventions), a laundry list of craft projects to work on, and visiting local restaurants and scenic views with her friends. She frequently takes advantage of the various outdoor activities that Florida offers to stay healthy, have fun, and to work on a tan.
