General Psychiatry Residency at TGBHH
Overview
Welcome Message from Our Program Director
Dear Prospective Residents,
Welcome to the USF Health Psychiatry Residency at Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital. I am delighted by your interest in our program and invite you to explore what makes our residency a dynamic and supportive place to train. Our mission is to provide high-quality psychiatric education in a centralized setting, with a strong emphasis on delivering compassionate, evidence-based care across a full continuum of settings. Residents train to care for patients of all ages, gaining experience that spans inpatient, outpatient, emergency and consultation-liaison settings.
A defining feature of our program is the collaborative relationship we intentionally cultivate between administration, faculty, and residents. We are committed to knowing our residents as individuals and to supporting their growth as learners, clinicians, and future leaders in psychiatry. As our program develops, we place great value on resident perspectives and plan to actively seek resident input as a key component of our ongoing evaluation and improvement efforts.
If you are eager to learn in a supportive environment and excited by the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of a new residency program, we warmly welcome your application. We look forward to working together to grow a program grounded in mentorship, open communication, and a shared commitment to excellence in psychiatric care and education.
Sincerely,
Alexis Cohen-Oram, MD
