Biography

Dr. Erika Abel graduated from the University of South Florida (USF) Medical School in 2003. She completed her combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency training in 2007 after being inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Abel's passion for medical education prompted her to join the USF faculty, where she now serves as an Associate Professor and the Med-Peds Program Director. She has played an instrumental role in training and developing the next generation of healthcare professionals, and she has been recognized multiple times by residents for her outstanding teaching. Her clinical service has been in the field of hospital medicine, through which she has taken on multiple leadership roles that have advanced quality and patient safety at Tampa General Hospital, where she serves as a Medical Staff Officer.
