Neuroscience Institute
Academic Structure
The NSI is comprised of five academic departments from USF Health. They include:
- Neurosurgery
- Neuropsychiatry
- Neurology
- Molecular Medicine
- Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology
In addition to academic departments, the NSI oversees numerous Centers, which focus on solving unique neurological challenges. Each Center is housed within one of the academic Departments for strategic planning and fiscal accountability. Current Centers include:
- Byrd Alzheimer’s Center
- Memory Disorder Center
- Parkinson’s Center
- Movement Disorder Center
- Brain and Aging Center
Every PI, researcher and clinician associated with the NSI has a “home” in one of these departments. This particular design was highly intentional because we wanted to replicate the Byrd model in which bench research, clinical trials and patient care collaborated for the highest impact possible.
