Research Interests
- At the Dr. Lianchun Wang Lab, we are dedicated to uncovering the intricate molecular mechanisms that govern vascular and brain functions, with a particular focus on heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG). These fascinating molecules, located on cell surfaces and within the extracellular matrix, play a crucial role in interacting with protein ligands such as growth factors, morphogens, cytokines, and matrix proteins, influencing a wide range of physiological and pathological processes. Our cutting-edge research employs a multifaceted approach, incorporating large patient study data, comprehensive biochemical analyses, cellular investigations, and in vivo mouse model testing. By exploring the functions, structural characteristics, and interacting partners of HSPGs, we aim to illuminate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the roles of HSPG in vascular function and Alzheimer's disease. Our ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of effective therapeutics for related diseases. Join us in our mission to make a lasting impact on human health through rigorous research and innovation.
