Partnering to improve healthcare quality for mothers and babies

Mother-Focused Care

Mother-Focused Care

FPQC worked with delivery units across the state and stakeholders, including patients, families, clinicians, and community organizations, to implement a quality improvement initiative that assisted hospitals in addressing a myriad of factors influencing maternal health behaviors and outcomes. Although the initiative has concluded, FPQC continues this work through ongoing quality improvement efforts across the state.

The active phase of the initiative concludedended in November 2024; however, 28 hospitals have committed to continuing MFC efforts through January 2028.

Florida State Statute Requiring FPQC Participation

*A state statute requires participation by maternity units in at least two FPQC initiatives. On August 23, 2022, FPQC hosted a webinar where we shared information with hospital teams about opportunities for participation. Mother-Focused Care, Postpartum Access and Continuity of Care (PACC) Initiative, and Perinatal Quality Indicators (PQI) participation contributed to the fulfillment of this requirement.
