"Dr. Wright's focus of interest is with maternal-infant dyads affected by substance use and opioid use disorder. He works closely with treatment centers and community resources to advocate on behalf of families affected by substance use."

Research Interests

  • Dr. Wright's research endeavors have led to multiple research grant initiatives including an NIH sub-award and a CDC-led grant for data analysis of maternal-infant dyads affected by opioid use as part of a USF team. Clinically, the PEDI Clinic (where he follows the maternal-infant dyads from prenatal to 5 years of age) was honored as a recipient of the Model Practice of Excellence Award by the AAP for its work with families affected by opioid use. He has participated in a number of collaboratives and panels- including as a subject matter expert for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Maternal-Infant Health and Opioid Use Learning Collaborative as well as a participant in a technical consultation meeting with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for "Effects of Intrauterine Exposure to Synthetic Opioids."
