Moath Alhamed’s love for neonatology started even before he finished his medical education! He graduated from medical school at the University of Jordan in 2011. In his last year he had the opportunity to rotate in the NICU at Vanderbilt and at that time decided that this is what he want to do for the rest of his life! He graduated from the pediatric residency program at Michigan State University in 2016 and went on to join the USF Neonatology fellowship.  In his free time Moath enjoys reading, watching soccer, swimming, and going out with friends.

Research Interests: neonatal hematology and the potential side effects of blood products transfusions on premature neonates

Shubika D’Souza was born in Mumbai, India and grew up in Bahrain (a little island in the Middle East) and still calls it home. She attended medical school in Nashik, India and completed her Pediatric residency at Monmouth Medical Center, New Jersey. She is currently juggling a long-distance marriage with fellowship (it can be done). In her spare time Shubika loves travelling, performing Indian classical dance/ Bharatnatyam and is a huge movie buff!

Research Interests: chronic lung disease, neonatal resuscitation and antibiotic stewardship

Vineet Lamba was born and raised in India. He completed his MBBS degree with distinction from Chaudhary Charan Singh University (formerly, Meerut University), UP, India. He then moved to the US and completed his training in Pediatrics at Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, NY where he was awarded the Beth Seaton award for outstanding resident. He is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. In his spare time Vineet enjoys travelling, reading, playing racquetball and video games.

Research Interests: neonatal ventilation & respiratory physiology, neurodevelopment and congenital heart disease


Jocelyne Tadros was born and raised in Houston, Texas where she attended medical school and completed her pediatric residency at UT Health Science Center. She then moved to Atlanta, GA where she practiced as a pediatric hospitalist for the past 7 years after which she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a neonatologist. She and her husband have 2 young children and a rambunctious dog who keeps them on their toes! In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, exploring different restaurants, cooking and staying active.  

Research Interests: long term effects of nutrition, apnea of prematurity and quality improvement via standard of care

Christopher Carafa was born and raised in New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology from the College of New Jersey and then went on to a brief career as a registered nurse before attending medical school at St. George’s University in Grenada. He completed his pediatric residency at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in New Jersey. In his spare time, he enjoys going to the beach and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Kaitlin Sapp was born and raised in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida. She completed her undergraduate studies in microbiology and nutritional sciences at the University of Florida [GO GATORS!]. She returned to Tampa for medical school at USF Morsani College of Medicine, and stayed at USF to complete her pediatrics residency. She is very excited for the opportunity to continue her fellowship training at USF. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, pup, and new daughter Danielle soaking up the gorgeous weather, delicious foods, and fun activities around downtown St. Pete and Tampa.  

Research Interests: nutrition and its role in major disease processes and education

Kejal Desai is originally from the Fiji Islands and celebrated her seventh birthday in Florida. She went to the University of Florida for undergrad and the University of South Florida for her masters before moving to West Virginia for medical school. She completed her pediatric residency training here at USF. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, going to Disney, spending time with her husband and family, and seeing her nieces grow! 

Research Interests: congenital heart disease, neonatal infections, and simulation training  


Felicia Daniels was born in Fort Lawton Oklahoma. She completed her undergraduate education at University of Florida, Gainesville. She continued on to earn her medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Jacksonville, FL. She completed her Pediatrics Residency training at Texas Tech University HSC – El Paso, Texas. In her spare time Felicia enjoys, Reading, Photography and cooking.
Erica Schultz  was born in Hollywood, FL. She completed her undergraduate education at University of Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. She continued on to earn her medical degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Pediatrics Residency training at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. In her spare time Erica  enjoys Yoga, cooking, traveling, skiing, hiking, finding the best gourmet eats around the world, spending time with friends, family and her puppy.
