Biography
I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine and Medical Director of Neonatal Neurocritical Care at Muma Children's Hospital/Tampa General Hospital. I completed my pediatric residency at Brown University/Hasbro Children's Hospital, fellowship training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, and advanced training in Neonatal Neurology and Neurocritical Care at George Washington University and Cleveland Clinic Children's. My clinical expertise focuses on neonatal brain injury, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, therapeutic hypothermia, neonatal seizures, intraventricular hemorrhage, posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus, advanced neuroimaging, and long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes. My approach to patient care emphasizes compassionate, family-centered, and evidence-based medicine, with a strong commitment to early neurological assessment, individualized neuroprotective strategies, and multidisciplinary collaboration. I believe that excellence in neonatal care extends beyond survival to promoting optimal neurological development and long-term quality of life. My research interests include neonatal brain injury, neuroprotection, neuromonitoring, and neurodevelopmental outcomes in high-risk infants. I am particularly focused on advancing neurological assessment, standardizing neuroimaging and neurocritical care practices, and exploring innovative, minimally invasive approaches to continuous physiological monitoring. Through clinical research, quality improvement, and medical education, I aim to translate scientific discoveries into meaningful improvements in the care and outcomes of critically ill newborns and their families.
