Student Involvement
Becoming a PA is a rigorous journey, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun while earning your degree. We have many opportunities for involvement within the USF community, build collaborative relationships with your peers, and foster engagement in the learning environment. Participating in outside activities helps foster life balance and self-care while meeting your goals of becoming a healthcare professional.
We encourage students to participate in USF student organizations and student government opportunities. A USF specific PA Student organization is available for participation.
Collegia
Participation in the Collegium program will provide PA students with a supportive community that fosters professional identity formation, mentorship, and a strong sense of belonging throughout their training. Within each Collegium, students build lasting relationships with peers, faculty, and advisors who guide their academic progress, professional development, and career planning. The Collegium creates a “home within a home,” where PA students feel known, supported, and connected while developing the values, skills, and confidence essential to the PA profession. Through longitudinal mentorship and collaborative learning, the Collegium experience helps students grow not only as clinicians, but also as members of a professional community committed to service, teamwork, and lifelong learning.
Events
- Commitment to Professionalism Ceremony
- The Commitment to Professionalism Ceremony is designed to introduce new physician assistant students to the medical profession and its characteristics of professionalism, humanism and empathy in medicine. Each student will receive a white coat signifying their transition into the healthcare profession. All students in the incoming PA class are expected to participate in this ceremony.
