Neurosurgery Observer Program
About the Program
We are excited to offer this unique opportunity for individuals interested in observing our expert neurosurgical team in action. Please note that participation is subject to availability, which may vary depending on the time of year, the number of existing requests, and other factors.
Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Observer Program (non-physician)
Program Details
- Observers are permitted to have only one supervisor per shadowing period. Multiple applications for different providers during the same observation period are not allowed.
- Observers must provide a valid photo ID.
- Approval is required before beginning your observation period. Once approved, you will coordinate your schedule directly with your assigned supervisor.
Application Process

- Please complete all pages of the forms except Page 2.
- Submit Your Application
- Email your completed forms to christianjenkins@usf.edu.
- Include a scanned copy of your photo ID.
- Await Approval
- Once your application is reviewed, you will receive an email regarding your approval status.
- Upon approval, coordinate specific dates, times, and meeting locations directly with your assigned supervisor.

If you are a medical physician interested in shadowing one of our physicians, you must first obtain written approval via email from the physician you wish to observe prior to submitting an application.

If you are interested in an outpatient observer experience (e.g., neurosurgical clinic through USF Health), please contact the education team for further instructions.

We encourage all international observers to reach out to the USF Medicine International office for onboarding and coordination. This department has a streamlined application process that includes a fee and important steps to ensure compliance with USF and TGH policies.
