The Joy McCann Culverhouse Center for Swallowing Disorders is located at USF on the 6th floor of the Carol and Frank Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare. This Academic University Center of Excellence offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and evidence based approach to the diagnosis and treatment of swallowing disorders.

Our Center physician consultants are board-certified gastroenterologists who specialize in disorders of swallowing and esophageal diseases (esophagology). Our professional staff also includes two full-time Speech Pathologists who specialize in the evaluation and treatment of oropharyngeal swallowing and voice disorders. We work closely with our surgical and advanced endoscopist colleagues and meet weekly as a team to discuss cases and work to provide a multidisciplinary approach to your care.

Our staff includes two licensed practical nurses (LPN), and a medical assistant. We have dedicated support staff including a clinical administrative secretary and a senior administrative assistant. We manage difficult, complex, and unusual swallowing disorders on a consultative basis.

At the Swallow Center we pride ourselves on maintaining the most current clinical practice with active research protocols on many of these diseases. Please ask about our current research protocols.
