Dear Friends & Visitors
Welcome to the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at USF Health. Here we wish to acquaint you with our unique clinical practice, educational programs, and research. As the Director of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, I am eager to personally introduce you to a team of compassionate physicians that deliver state-of-the-art clinical care to their patients with known or suspected diseases of the blood and cancer. Whether you are visiting just to gain additional knowledge, looking for a second opinion, or seeking a world-class hematologist and/or medical oncologist, we are delighted to serve you in your care.
At the USF Health, we pride ourselves on undertaking the highest quality healthcare, training highly competent and caring physicians, and generating the most innovative research. Our outpatient clinics are located at the USF Health Morsani Center Clinics and at Tampa General Hospital Cancer Center. We offer acute hospital care and consultations at Tampa General Hospital.
USF Health Hemophilia Treatment Center
Housed within our Division is the USF Health Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC), one of the few HTCs in the country that specializes in adult patients with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. We hold a federal grant from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau and we are recognized by HRSA as a site to provide best-practice care and follow-up for patients with bleeding disorders. Our comprehensive treatment center is supported by a team composed of highly recognized hematologists, social workers, research physicians, and nursing.
We offer support for all of our patients' needs including pharmacy, psychosocial, orthopedics, infection disease, and any other specialist they might need. Should these patients require emergency care or treatment, we are available 24/7 to provide support and assistance.
TGH Cancer Center
We are an integral part of the Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Cancer Center. This newly renovated center at TGH is staffed by faculty physicians from our USF Division of Hematology/Oncology in collaboration with USF Gynecology Oncology, USF Radiation Oncology, and Medical Oncology from the Moffitt Cancer Center. This collaboration allows our patients at TGH to have access to the best care available in the country for diseases of the blood and cancer.
Please let us know if we can help you in any way!
21st Century Bleeding Disorder Social Group
The purpose of the group is to provide support and aid in strength building. Many people with bleeding disorders face challenges that may be discouraging. The focus of the group is to relieve stress. The first group will be a round-robin approach to get every member familiar with each other. The next group will be an open dialogue on challenges faced. The group meeting following this will focus on education. Educational topics include insurance, healthy eating, physical activity, sexual education, and more. We hope to form a mentoring approach between the youth and experienced patients. We want to bring the best out of our youth in hopes that the future for our community is knowledgeable about a wider range of things that may affect their health. This group is not supported by outside vendors in hoping that peer-to-peer communication is at full strength. In the end, we hope to get the group up and moving in the right direction. Our group will be meeting every three (3) months with our first meeting taking place on the first Wednesday of November. If you need additional information about upcoming meetings and RSVP please contact Tony Brown MSW at (813) 974-3725 or via email abrown134@usf.edu.
