The Internal Medicine Research Department is an academic research site with an established record of successfully completing 150+ industry-sponsored clinical trials and investigator-initiated clinical trials in research fields such as Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease, Allergy, and Nephrology. This Department of Internal Medicine has experience in Phase I-IV trials and has established itself as a reliable and consistent site providing sponsors with clean data and meeting our recruitment goals 95% of the time.
As recognized experts that provide cutting-edge treatments to neighboring communities, this site has successfully engaged the Greater Tampa Bay area community in research. Our recruitment area covers over six counties with a population of over 3.2 million. Tampa Bay is a community with both family and retirement communities.

The University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is located at 13330 Laurel Drive in Tampa, Florida. Located on the university campus, the Morsani College of Medicine has active research programs in basic, translational, and clinical sciences.
The Morsani College of Medicine is your one-stop shop when it comes to clinical research. Located on the fourth floor of the Morsani building, the Clinical Research Center (CRC) was designed to provide an infrastructure to assist seasoned and novice investigators in the implementation and conduct of clinical research.
Within our facility, we have the following amenities:
- Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
- On-Site Nurse Manager
- Clinical exam rooms equipped with exam tables, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, and vital signs equipment
- ECG rooms that can also be utilized for infusions
- Basic specimen processing area equipped with refrigerated centrifuge
- Ambient, cold, and frozen secure storage for investigational products or short-term specimen storage, monitored and recorded per SOP.
- Includes two 2-8° C refrigerators,
- a -20° C freezer, and
- an -80°C freezer all locked and on red electrical outlets
- Large Chest for central dry ice storage
- Automated vital signs monitor, AED, limited anthropometric equipment, secure document disposal, printer/fax/copier/scanner, analog line for data transmission
- Calibration and service record maintenance for all CRC equipment
- CRC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Manual
- Scheduling of facility is done on a Resource level in EPIC
- Clinical Pharmacy for drug storage (on-site)
