In Her Own Words: "I am so excited to join the USF-MPM Family Medicine team! When applying to residency, it was important to me to find somewhere that would allow me to train in full-scope family medicine, continue research, and be happy for the next 3 years. USF has a rare combination of unopposed community medicine training and large academic affiliation that makes it the perfect fit for me. I also love that the curriculum has flexibility with different tracts that allow residents to explore their interests. When I interviewed, I saw that the residents felt like a family and the culture was positive and welcoming so I knew I could feel at home here."

About Dr. Jamieson: Dr. Jamieson was born and raised in Jupiter, Florida. She then went to Florida State University where she got a BS in Psychology. After graduating, she spent 4 years working as a neuroscience lab technician before matriculating at LECOM Bradenton. Dr. Jamieson was drawn to family medicine because of its variety, ability to form relationships with patients of all ages, and career flexibility. She is also passionate about preventative healthcare and working with underserved populations. In her free time, she likes hiking, kayaking, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

In Her Own Words: "I am so excited that I matched into my top choice for family medicine residency. I loved my interview with the welcoming and friendly faculty/residents. USF MPM is an unopposed program where we can learn comprehensive family medicine, while still having adequate elective time to discover our interests. The different tracks that residents can pursue during residency, including wilderness in medicine and integrative medicine, are special additions to such a great residency program. I look forward to starting this new chapter in my life at USF MPM!"

About Dr. Khalifa: Dr. Khalifa was born in Folsom, California. When she was eight years old, she moved to Cairo, Egypt, and lived there for five years. She then moved to the United Arab Emirates and lived there for four years during high school. Her love for science and volunteering made her want to go into medicine. Dr. Khalifa is the first person in her family to go to medical school. She was drawn to family medicine as the specialty uniquely integrates medicine, service, and community. With family medicine, she can create relationships with patients, listen to their life stories, and tailor their medical needs. Her interests in family medicine include geriatric medicine and outpatient procedures. During her free time, Dr. Khalifa enjoys painting, drawing, reading, and travelling.

In His Own Words: "I am thrilled to return to my home state to join the USF MPM-FMR family! Immediately after my virtual interview, I felt the program was a top contender. Following an in-person second look: I knew this was home. The unopposed, academic-affiliated hospital paired with the passionate, kind, and supportive faculty and residents alike truly made the program stand out. I am ecstatic to train in the beautiful Clearwater area at a program that allows me to tailor my education to my future career goals."

About Dr. Lamb: Dr. Lamb was born and raised in Sebring, Florida. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Florida, where he also worked as a Pathology Lab Technician prior to attending medical school. His inspiration to become a physician stems from his experiences in managing IBD from an early age. His clinical interests include preventative medicine, chronic disease management, and healthcare equity and access. In his free time, Dr. Lamb enjoys travelling with his partner, cooking, weightlifting, playing video games, and spending time with his three cats - Morticia, Ish, and Gigi.

In Her Own Words: "The most important thing I was looking for in a residency was supportive faculty and co-residents as well as a strong program that allowed residents to hone in on their specific interests as future family medicine physicians. During my interview at USF, I immediately felt the vibrant and comforting energy of the program and knew that it was the one for me. The unopposed setting allows residents to get a wide breadth of education while also having access to the resources of a university program- it's the best of both worlds! I am ecstatic to be a resident here and be so close to my hometown of Tampa as well."

About Dr. Malik: Dr. Malik was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and was inspired to become a family physician after working on a mobile clinic during her undergraduate years. Her special interests include women's health and wilderness medicine. On her days off, Dr. Malik enjoys rock climbing, learning about ancient history, video games, and kicking back with loved ones.

In His Own Words: "Even before medical school I had an interest for primary care because I had a passion for providing care to a broad patient population. That passion only grew in medical school. USF-MPM FMR embodies all of my values and additionally all the faculty and residents were friendly and supportive. The location is perfect as well with a great blend of the outdoors, the beach, and the city life of Tampa nearby."

About Dr. Pokhrel: Dr. Pokhrel was born in Kathmandu, Nepal and emigrated to the small suburban town of Harvest, AL when he was nine. He had a natural curiosity for the sciences from an early age and became interested in medicine in high school when he took a course that exposed him to various healthcare fields. In medical school he appreciated continuity of care the most and felt a calling to Family Medicine. His special interests include sports medicine and nutrition. In his free time he enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching and playing soccer, and enjoying the outdoors like going to the beach.

In His Own Words: "My priorities for a Family Medicine program included a curriculum that explored many medical disciplines in depth, with a supportive faculty and peer group that shared eagerness to learn and teach for their patients. I was pleasantly surprised at the camaraderie and support that I saw at the USF MPM-FMR while I was doing my Acting Internship. Everybody, from intern to attending, was approachable and eager to share their wisdom and experience. I was constantly encouraged to explore interests and areas of improvement, and I foresaw a residency that would challenge and prepare me to pursue my future career goals."

About Dr. Rehsi: Dr. Rehsi was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but was raised from childhood in Land o’ Lakes, Florida. He found learning about the human body fascinating as a child and continued to follow that curiosity as he grew and progressed through his educational journey. Exposure to various medical fields through shadowing, volunteering and working as a medical scribe enhanced his appreciation for medicine during his undergraduate experiences. He found an interest in Family Medicine while training in medical school, enjoying the field’s breadth, continuity, and focus on patient education and preventative wellness. His special interests include medical education and sleep medicine. In his free time, Dr. Rehsi enjoys playing board games with friends, rock climbing, and working on various musical projects. 

Hometown: Riverview, Florida

In Her Own Words: "My interest in Family Medicine solidified after rotating with USF-MPM Family Medicine Residency during an elective as a medical student. It was clear that the residents were valued and respected and had great relationships with the faculty and staff. In addition to being a robust program, USF MPM FMR serves a diverse population and because the program is unopposed, the residents can learn directly from all specialties. The program also allows residents to pursue their own unique interests within family medicine."

About Dr. Sands: Dr. Sands was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area. She decided to pursue a career in medicine at a young age. She went to the University of South Florida for undergrad and for medical school where she majored in biology and anthropology. Dr. Sands became interested in family medicine because of the impactful long-term relationships with patients and the variety within the specialty. 

Her special interests include volunteerism, research, medical education, and leadership. In her free time, Dr. Sands spends her time with her family, partner, and dogs Darwin and Daisy, playing soccer and pickle ball, and painting or creating with digital art.

In His Own Words: "I decided early on that I wanted to go to a residency program that could provide me with the best preparation to care for my future patients. Like most medical students going into Family Medicine, I have a variety of interests. I felt that USF MPM-FMR was the best program to help me explore all these interests while providing me with a foundation for a long career of medicine. Each of the faculty members and residents that I have met have provided me with a sense that the program excels in teamwork and the residents enjoy spending time with each other, which is exactly what I was looking for in a program. I also loved the location, where I could be near the most beautiful Florida beaches."

About Dr. Timmerman: Dr. Timmerman was born in Michigan and lived there for 11 years before moving to Newtown, Pennsylvania. He decided at a young age that he wanted to become a primary care physician after seeing the impact his mother’s physician had on her when she was battling cancer. His work as a medical assistant in a pediatric clinic confirmed his decision. He has interests in Geriatrics, Sports Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, and many other areas within the field of Family Medicine. He loves playing sports such as soccer, basketball, jiu-jitsu, pickle ball, ping pong, and spike ball. He also enjoys spending his free time playing chess, board games, hiking, and working out.
