Applying for Residency
All applicants for the Dermatology Residency at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine must be registered with the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
Applications are accepted only through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Please do not send paper copies of manuscripts or other materials.
Requirements
- Examinations: USMLE Step 1 must be completed before applying; Step 2 (or equivalent) must be completed before entering residency training. D.O. applicants must also have taken the USMLE exams to apply.
- Letters of Reference: A minimum of three letters is required, with at least one preferably from a dermatologist (including your program director). There is no maximum number of letters.
- Personal Statement: Your personal statement should include why you chose dermatology, your personal characteristics, career aspirations, and what you are seeking in a training program. Avoid defining the specialty and use this section to highlight unique qualities not reflected elsewhere in your ERAS application.
- Students are encouraged to complete a rotation with the department before applying.

Interviews
All interviews will be conducted on the third Thursday and Friday of January for the 2026 interview season. There are no exceptions. Those selected for an interview will be notified by mid-November.
