Residency

Overview

The University of South Florida (USF) Health Department of Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery Residency Program began in 1980 with only one resident. This program has graduated more than 50 American Board of Medical Specialties certified dermatologists since. Today, the program is accredited to train twelve residents (4 per year) and has remained fully staffed since inception. Competition is intense, with 500-600 applicants, most of whom are near the top of their class vying for one of the annual positions. Residents rotate through USF clinical service sites as well as our affiliated hospitals.

In addition, we have a fully-accredited Dermatopathology Fellowship Program. For more information on the Dermatopathology Fellow Program, please contact asanford@usf.edu.

These programs, along with others at the Morsani College of Medicine, only accept applicants who are registered with the National Residency Match Program. Physicians graduating from our residency program leave here fully equipped and prepared for careers in the field of dermatology, whether through private practice or in academics. Take a look at us. We're confident you will agree that USF can offer everything you are looking for in a training program.
