Students who are married may need to include contributor information from their spouse when completing the FAFSA. Spouses who will serve as contributors must create their own StudentAid.gov account (FSA ID), even if they do not have a Social Security number.

The FAFSA must be completed each academic year students wish to be considered for federal financial aid.

After submitting the FAFSA, students should regularly monitor their Student Self Service account and USF email account for updates regarding financial aid eligibility, requests for additional documentation, and outstanding financial aid requirements.

Additional information may be required before financial aid eligibility can be finalized.

A percentage of FAFSA applications processed by the U.S. Department of Education are selected for verification. If selected, students will receive instructions through Student Self Service regarding any additional documentation that may be required.
