PharmD Program

Cost of Attendance

Taneja College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

The Cost of Attendance (COA) represents the estimated total cost to attend the Taneja College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program for a specific academic year.

The COA is established by the University of South Florida Office of Financial Aid as a reasonable estimate of educational expenses incurred during periods of enrollment and is used to determine financial aid eligibility.

The Cost of Attendance includes the following types of expenses:

  • Billable expenses charged by the university

  • Non-billable educational and living expenses

The Cost of Attendance is not a bill, and actual expenses may vary based on individual circumstances, housing arrangements, enrollment patterns, and personal spending decisions.

Students with extenuating circumstances may contact the USF Health Office of Financial Aid to request a review with supporting documentation.

Planning for Your Costs

Graduate and professional students should plan ahead for both direct educational costs and indirect living expenses throughout their program.

Students are encouraged to:

  • Review Cost of Attendance information carefully

  • Develop a personal budget for each academic year

  • Plan for future enrollment periods and educational expenses

The USF Health Office of Financial Aid is available to assist students in understanding educational costs and available funding options.

Important Update (2026–2027 Academic Year)

Federal student loan regulations are changing. These updates may affect:

  • Federal borrowing limits

  • Graduate PLUS Loan eligibility

  • Overall funding options for some graduate and professional students

Federal borrowing eligibility and loan options may vary based on individual circumstances and applicable federal regulations.

Students are encouraged to review financial aid offers carefully and plan ahead for future enrollment periods.

Understanding Your Cost of Attendance

The Cost of Attendance is used to determine the maximum amount of financial aid a student may be eligible to receive during an academic year.

The Cost of Attendance may include estimated expenses related to the following categories:

  • Tuition and fees

  • Housing and food

  • Books and supplies

  • Transportation

  • Personal expenses

  • Loan fees, if applicable

Some students may also incur additional educational expenses related to:

  • Clinical experiences

  • Licensure requirements

  • Professional equipment and supplies

  • Board examination preparation and testing fees

Actual expenses may vary among students depending on individual circumstances and enrollment patterns.

Understanding Your Budget Components

  • Tuition for Florida State Pharmacy schools is at a flat yearly rate, regardless of the actual hours a student is enrolled. Tuition and Fees are estimated in the Cost of Attendance using the prior aid year’s tuition and fees. For more information about tuition, fees, and payments, please visit the Registrar's Tuition Information Page.

  • These are the cost estimates that the average student may incur during each year of enrollment. While actual expenses will vary among students, the estimated total cost of living will allow for a moderate standard of living. The calculation for housing expenses is one-half of the average rental rate, plus utilities for a two-bedroom apartment within a 10-mile radius of the Campus. Students are expected to share living facilities to help reduce expenses. Students should budget and plan accordingly for expenses incurred during periods of non-enrollment.

  • Actual prices of required texts for each class are included. In addition, this component includes an allowance for tool kits and miscellaneous supplies. The cost for a computer/laptop is not included in the standard cost of attendance but can be included on a case-by-case basis. Students should contact the financial aid office to explore this option.

  • The estimated cost in this category includes expenses for entertainment, laundry, personal hygiene, medical and dental care, required immunizations, screenings, and background checks. It also covers the cost of required health and disability insurance.

  • Commuting costs (to and from campus) are included in the transportation component. Travel costs to area hospitals and/or clinical sites are also included.

  • Federal loan fees are determined based on the average fees incurred by similarly classified borrowers during the previous academic year. These fees will be added if the student borrows federal loans.

What This Means for You

Your Cost of Attendance establishes the maximum amount of financial aid you may be eligible to receive for the applicable academic period.

Funding options and borrowing eligibility may vary based on individual circumstances and applicable federal regulations.

Students may need to use a combination of financial resources to help cover educational expenses throughout their program.

We encourage students to take the following steps when planning for educational expenses:

  • Review Cost of Attendance information carefully

  • Compare available funding options

  • Understand long-term borrowing responsibilities

  • Plan ahead for future academic years

Students with questions regarding educational expenses or funding options should contact the USF Health Office of Financial Aid for individualized assistance.
