Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health
Founded in 1987, the University of South Florida College of Public Health’s Tau Chapter of Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health has welcomed more than 400 members who exemplify the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, and service.
Delta Omega was established in 1924 at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health to promote excellence and recognize achievement in the field. Today, more than 100 chapters and 20,000 members worldwide carry forward this mission, advancing public health through leadership, research, teaching, and community impact.

Membership
Membership in Delta Omega reflects a commitment to excellence in public health and is among the highest honors for students, faculty, and alumni.
Each year, new members are elected in three categories:
- Students – Recognized for exceptional scholarship and leadership.
- Faculty – Honored for achievements in teaching and research.
- Alumni – Selected for their significant contributions to public health practice and service.
Inductions occur annually during National Public Health Week. Nominations are faculty-driven and reflect an individual’s dedication to advancing the health of all people.

Delta Omega sponsors the annual American Public Health Association (APHA) Student Poster Sessions to encourage and recognize the public health leaders of tomorrow. Each year, twenty-nine students from Delta Omega chapters nationwide are selected to present their research to public health professionals from around the world, showcasing the next generation of scholars and leaders in the field.
Tau Chapter members have been selected to participate in multiple years, proudly representing the USF College of Public Health and showcasing their scholarship on a national stage.
