Birth Defects Surveillance Program

The Birth Defects Surveillance Program (BDSP), in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Birth Defects Registry (FBDR), perform birth defects surveillance and research. The BDSP focuses on improving the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of the Florida Birth Defects Registry by performing statewide enhanced surveillance of select major birth defects. The BDSP also supports and collaborates with stakeholders on prevention and education programs and gathering information on the systems of care serving Florida’s families to improve access to health services and early intervention programs.
