Research Interests

  • My research focuses on the development and implementation of tailored rehabilitation strategies to reduce pain and optimize functional performance in clinical populations. I am particularly interested in understanding the multidimensional mechanisms underlying chronic pain and its associated movement impairments, including biomechanical, neurophysiological, psychological, and related psychosocial contributors. I examine how these mechanisms can inform individualized, evidence-based interventions. By integrating principles from biomechanics, motor control, neuroimaging, psychological assessment, and comprehensive clinical evaluation, my work aims to align rehabilitation approaches with each individual's specific impairments and functional goals. Ultimately, my goal is to advance precision rehabilitation models that enhance recovery, improve quality of life, and promote long-term functional independence.
  • My current research, in part, focuses on chronic pain in people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Chronic pain is one of the most prevalent and disabling symptoms in MS, yet it remains mechanistically under-characterized and insufficiently managed in clinical care. My work integrates movement science, biomechanics, quantitative sensory testing, sleep and psychosocial measures, and patient-reported outcomes to investigate peripheral and central contributors to pain in MS. A central theme of this work is identifying modifiable biomechanical, sensory, and psychological factors, including sleep disturbances, that contribute to chronic pain, with the goal of informing targeted, mechanism-based rehabilitation strategies.
