Application Procedures

4th year Elective:

This four week elective will provide an introduction into the field of orthopaedic surgery. Students will have the opportunity to work with faculty and residents in the clinic and operating room. Students will be exposed to the subspecialties of orthopaedic trauma, sports medicine, tumor, adult reconstruction, and upper extremity

Please contact the USF COM registrar for externship specifics. Register for your externship through VSAS. The links are provided below.

Interviews:

Interviews for the residency program are typically scheduled in January, directly after externship season has completed.

The requirements for admission to the program include graduation from an accredited medical school. Four applicants are admitted each year into the program. The residency program is a five year program with a complement of 20 residents. All applications are reviewed and interviews for prospective candidates are arranged on the basis of their medical school record, research experience, extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation. Competition is exceptionally high, with many more outstanding applicants than openings each year. We look forward to receiving your application and wish you the best of luck in the future.

All materials required for candidacy are to be submitted online through ERAS by November 1.

For more information on benefits, salary, contracts, policies & procedures and a copy of the house staff manual, please visit the Graduate Medical Education website.
