Under the leadership of Interim Program Director Ramak Roohipourmoallai, MD, the USF Surgical Retina Fellowship is a comprehensive two-year program designed to provide advanced training in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases.

The fellowship offers extensive clinical and surgical experience across the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina, utilizing both established and emerging diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. Training includes fluorescein angiography, ultrasonography, laser therapies, photodynamic therapy, vitreoretinal surgery, membrane peeling, scleral buckle procedures, ocular oncology treatments including radioactive plaque therapy, and the management of retinopathy of prematurity.

Fellows work closely with experienced faculty and a diverse patient population, gaining exposure to complex retinal pathology and advanced surgical techniques. Through the department's active involvement in clinical research and innovation, fellows remain at the forefront of advances in retinal care and are encouraged to participate in scholarly activities, presentations, and publications throughout their training.
