Student Research Opportunities

Ongoing Opportunities for Students to Volunteer to Conduct Research with the USF Department of Emergency Medicine

Overview

The USF Department of Emergency Medicine occasionally offers ad hoc opportunities for undergraduate, graduate and medical students from USF and other institutions to volunteer to conduct research with department faculty, fellows, residents and staff. Research opportunities offered are subject to department member availability and the suitability of the research projects to student involvement. Unless otherwise specified, the research opportunities are not paid positions. However, students may secure their own funding to participate in available research opportunities.

Participation Requirements

Ongoing opportunities for students to volunteer to conduct research with department members are open to students in good academic standing with their institution. Applications for participating in these research opportunities are accepted on a rolling basis. If a research project opportunity is available, applicants are notified by Department of Emergency Medicine research staff regarding next steps to be considered for the research opportunity. Applicants considered for participation in the research opportunity will be interviewed in regard to their research interests, skills and experience, availability to perform the research project, etc.

Students must:

  • Be credentialed to conduct research through Tampa General Hospital

  • Have an active USF Bulls Institutional Review Board research account

  • Contribute to the dissemination of findings from the research, which includes preparation and presentations of abstracts and manuscripts

Program Structure

Students will work with the department member(s) offering the research opportunity in regard to assigned duties, expectations, time commitment, etc. Duties, expectations, time commitment required, etc. vary by the available research opportunity.

USF Morsani College of Medicine Medical Student Department of Emergency Medicine Summer Research Program

Overview

The USF Morsani College of Medicine Medical Student Department of Emergency Medicine Summer Research Program is designed to integrate USF Morsani College of Medicine medical students into research conducted by USF Department of Emergency Medicine faculty. The program also exposes students to a variety of research designs and topic areas.

Participation Requirements
