Biography
Arjan van der Vaart is a professor in the Chemistry Department. His work focuses on the development and application of computer simulation methods to study biomolecular systems. His research interests include conformational dynamics, protein-DNA recognition, and DNA damage and repair, as well as the development of new algorithms and sampling methods. Dr. van der Vaart holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University and did his postdoctoral training with Prof. Martin Karplus (2013 Nobel Laureate) at Harvard University.
