At our biweekly street runs, we walk the streets on a set route near the I-275 bypass, providing basic primary care, OTC medications, and wound care using medical supplies carried in backpacks, as well as hygiene supplies (socks, soap, toothbrushes, etc.) to those who need them, directly in their unsheltered settings. Street runs occur every other Friday and typically serve an average 30 persons per run.
In addition to our street runs, we operate continuity clinics at First Presbyterian Church on the first and third Saturday of every month. Our clinics offer longitudinal care for patients with chronic medical problems, acute care, and follow-up for patients seen during street runs. Each clinic typically serves 10-15 patients.
Tampa Bay Street Medicine is a student-run service organization and donations provide critical support for our work. All proceeds go directly towards purchasing supplies and equipment TBSM service events, which bring free healthcare to the houseless in Tampa.
