The Future of Otolarngology
Welcome to the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of South Florida (USF). We invite you to explore the remarkable opportunities and innovations within our department, dedicated to providing exceptional education, pioneering research, and delivering high-quality care to improve health outcomes in otolaryngology.
Our Otolaryngology Residency program offers a dynamic five-year training experience, providing extensive education in the medical and surgical management of patients of all ages. Residents also benefit from a protected period for research, allowing them to engage in innovative studies while training across four affiliated institutions.
Patients with severe obesity increasingly underrepresented in surgical care, USF Health study finds
New research led by Dr. Michael Kachmar shows that patients with the highest levels of obesity underwent the fewest surgical operations each year. The findings are significant as patients with higher BMI have increasing medical and surgical needs, and the U.S. population with extreme obesity has grown disproportionately over the past two decades.
