Biography

Dr. Nappe practices emergency medicine and addiction medicine at USF/Tampa General, as well as medical toxicology at the Florida Poison Information Center, Tampa.  After his first career as a special education teacher, he completed his medical degree at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rowan), followed by emergency medicine residency training at the Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pennsylvania, where he served as chief resident, and subsequently a medical toxicology fellowship at Denver Health, Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Center.  He is board certified in emergency medicine, medical toxicology, and addiction medicine. Since fellowship, Dr. Nappe has served as a core faculty member of an emergency medicine residency program and founded and directed an inpatient medical toxicology consulting service, an inpatient medical withdrawal management (detox) unit, and an outpatient medication assisted therapy office.  Professional interests include teaching, expanding access to healthcare services, and improving the safety and quality of care for patients suffering from poisoning and addiction.  Dr. Nappe’s patient care philosophy is to treat everyone like family.  During his free time, he loves spending time with his family, dining out, going to the beach, and exploring the outdoors.
