Biography
Dr. Eric S. Weinstein, MD, MScDM, is a seasoned Disaster Medicine Physician with a distinguished career at the intersection of healthcare and disaster preparedness. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Tulane University, followed by a Medical Doctor degree from UMDNJ-Rutgers at Camden. Dr. Weinstein honed his expertise through a USAF-sponsored residency in Emergency Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital, New York, NY, and further expanded his knowledge with a Master of Science in Disaster Medicine (MScDM) from Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale in Italy. Throughout his career, Dr. Weinstein has been an active participant in disaster response and preparedness efforts. He has served as a dedicated leader in various disaster response teams, as Team Leader of the South Carolina Disaster Medical Assistance Team (SC-1 DMAT), Medical Director of the SC Emergency Response Task Force and currently serves as an Attending Physician with Team Rubicon, a WHO EMT-1 Mobile. Dr. Weinstein's commitment to disaster preparedness goes beyond fieldwork; he has also been an influential figure in disaster medicine education. As an instructor and faculty member in the European Master in Disaster Medicine program, he has shared his wealth of knowledge with the next generation of disaster responders. He has published over thirty articles and numerous textbook chapters, been a Section Editor of the Ciottone Disaster Medicine Textbook and Deputy Editor of the Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness Journal. His dedication to disaster medicine and preparedness has made a lasting impact on disaster response teams and has contributed significantly to the field's growth and development.
