Education

Biography

After graduating from Brown University with a degree in Neuroscience, Dr. Chandy worked briefly as a health care consultant prior to attending SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Chandy completed his anesthesia residency at Massachusetts General Hospital followed by a Cardiothoracic Anesthesia fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Following training, Dr. Chandy worked in private practice for nearly 14 years as a cardiac anesthesiologist at Inova Fairfax Hospital in northern Virginia where he served a number of roles including Director of Thoracic Anesthesia, Director of Anesthesia for Inova's Interventional Pulmonology lab, and Chair of Inova's system-wide Sedation Committee. In addition, Dr. Chandy led the Anesthesia Department as Chairman at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, a teaching site for the anesthesia residents of the National Capital Consortium. Dr. Chandy is board-certified in Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology and Transesophageal Echocardiography. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and as a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, served on its Thoracic ERAS committee. Dr. Chandy moved to Tampa in 2022 to join the cardiac anesthesia group at Tampa General Hospital where he serves as an Associate Program Director for the anesthesia residency program and is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at USF Morsani College of Medicine. He is delighted to have the opportunity to participate in the development of Tampa General Hospital's Anesthesia residency program and is excited about its future.
