Biography

Jeffrey A. Weiss, DO, FASA is Chief of the Department of Anesthesiology and System Medical Director for TeamHealth Anesthesia Services at Tampa General Hospital, and Vice Chairman for Operations and Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed his training in anesthesiology at Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, PA. He is a board-certified anesthesiologist with subspecialty board certification in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography and is a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Weiss has extensive experience in clinical operations, and physician leadership, and academic medicine. At Tampa General Hospital, he has led the strategic realignment of anesthesiology services to support the mission of a tertiary care academic medical center, spearheading the successful establishment an anesthesiology residency program on an accelerated timeline. His prior leadership roles include President of TeamHealth Anesthesia, where he served as physician executive for a national anesthesia division with responsibility for clinical quality, operations, and growth across more than 100 contracted facilities, as well as chief-of-staff and chairman of a hospital governing board. Dr. Weiss’s scholarly interests include cardiothoracic and neuroanesthesia, perioperative cardiac ultrasonography, and quality improvement. He has authored and coauthored peer-reviewed publications in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine and remains actively involved in resident and medical student education, clinical research, and institutional governance. His career reflects a sustained commitment to advancing patient care, education, and system-level performance in anesthesiology.
