About

USF Health’s Office of Continuing Professional Development is a not-for-profit, academic provider of continuing education for healthcare professionals. The OCPD provides accreditation, education, and conference management services to meet the needs of clients regionally, nationally, and internationally.

The mission of the OCPD is to advance the competence and performance of healthcare professionals through the creation of a scholarly environment that fosters excellence in the lifelong goals of education, research and patient care. As an academic center of excellence, emphasis is on collaboration with the QI divisions of USF Health and the affiliate hospitals to provide activities that focus on patient care improvement.

Continuing education (CE) and lifelong learning have always been an integral part of USF Health’s educational mission. In 2015, USF Health was awarded Accreditation with Commendation for a third consecutive time by the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for a six-year term. USF Health maintains multiple accreditations by other organizations such as American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Council on Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

The OCPD has been designing and implementing educational activities for over two decades. These activities run the gamut from a small dinner meetings to complex multi-day conferences to skills-based hands-on courses to enduring materials. OCPD has also embraced the hybrid model, which combines multiple formats in order to engage the learner and create sustained learning. USF Health continually strives to provide up-to-date clinical and research information in educational formats that enable participants to improve their knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviors, and the clinical outcomes for their patients.

The USF Health Office of Continuing Professional Development can assist in the full creation and planning of a continuing education program.

OCPD is a self-supporting department within USF Health. As a result, OCPD must charge for their services. To learn more about our accreditation services and fees please email cpdsupport@health.usf.edu.
