Leadership Programs

PDI Leadership Program Information

Healthcare is undergoing change at a pace never seen before. Major breakthroughs in science, new drugs and devices, increasing rates of chronic diseases, changing regulatory environments, rapid adoption of electronic health record systems, emerging technology platforms, an explosion in data collected, emergence of evidence-based medicine and a critical focus on outcomes and costs have all combined to create an environment that places a high ask of the next generation of physician leaders.

What differentiates the winners from the rest of the pack is how leadership manages this environment. With this in mind, PDI has created a twelve-month program aimed at preparing the next generation of physician, nurse and now, surgery residents' leaders.

About the Leadership Program

During the twelve-month program participants will work within a cohort under the guidance of a mentor and institutional sponsor to designing a solution for the use-case. In the final class participants will present a final solution to the cohort as well as leadership in both USF Health and TGH.

An important aspect of this program is the integration of hard and soft skills that are needed to tackle some of the most challenging problems of today. Today’s leading organizations such as Google and General Electric have embraced a culture of data-driven innovation that permeates every aspect of their organizations, while at the same time embracing the creative and soft skills needed for people to manage effectively and innovate. Most physician, nurse and surgery residents training all tend to be on the more quantitative and analytical side of the management philosophy. This program will build on their strengths and help them incorporate the critical leadership, decision making, and soft skills needed while retaining the analytical focus that is needed to manage in today’s environment.
