Dr. Michael Knox holds a joint faculty appointment in the Department of Global Health.  In addition, he is also a tenured professor in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy and holds joint appointments as Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine as well as Courtesy Distinguished University Professor of Psychology and Courtesy Distinguished Professor of Gerontology.  Professor Knox also serves on the faculty of the India Center for Health, HIV/AIDS Research and Training (CHART-India).  At present, Dr. Knox is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society.  He is a member of the International AIDS Society, the National Association of AIDS Education and Training Centers and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.

While at USF, Dr. Knox has been responsible for more than $32 million in grants and other external funding.  In 1988 he founded and continues to serve as 
Director, USF Center for HIV Education and Research, located with the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute.  Among many programs, the Center runs the Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) which is funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Knox has traveled throughout the world to deliver academic presentations, professional consultations, and to develop collaborations.  His current work is on behavioral approaches to disease prevention and training primary care clinicians to treat HIV/AIDS.
