Welcome to the Department of Global Health!

Thank you for visiting the website for the Department of Global Health in the University of South Florida's college of public health! We are a large and diverse department that is united around the central theme of improving the health and lives of the poorest people on the planet. Please take a moment to view the tabs in the upper left hand menu to learn more about our faculty and their specific research interests, academic concentrations and available degree programs, research Centers and Institutes as well as resources for current students. You will find that we offer a plethora of programs and opportunities revolving around our central theme of improving the lives of people all around the world. We have programs that range from opportunities to work in in world class research laboratories doing cutting edge basic research on neglected tropical diseases here in Tampa to a chance to do field work in developing countries in Latin America, Asia and Africa.

As a department, we encourage both current and prospective students to become involved in departmental events. To the left you will find a calendar of current Global Health Department events. Health education is priority one for Dale Watson
Dale Watson is a health education consultant with the Pinellas County Health Department. She’s based in Clearwater and is charged with supervising five community health advocates in an effort to improve health outcomes with primary care clients. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Watson worked in South Sudan with The Carter Center. Ms. Dale Watson earned a master’s degree concentrating in global health practice from the USF College of Public Health.
Global health infectious disease research program hosts drug discovery conference
The second annual symposium, 2013 Frontiers of Drug Discovery, with an attendance of approximately 60 people, was held on March 29 at the USF Interdisciplinary Research Building.  Hosted by the COPH Global Health Infectious Disease Research Program and the USF Center for Drug Discovery and Innovation and chaired by Drs. Public health graduates unleash their practice, their passion on the world
“What’s great about public health is that many questions remain to be answered and there is much work to do,” said Donna J.
