Simulation Center
Overview
Experiential Education
All undergraduate and graduate nursing students will receive a state-of-the-art education in our simulation labs through hands-on methods and innovative technologies, including realistic simulation experiences, specialized task trainers, simulators, standardized patients and virtual reality. Nursing students and students in medically-related disciplines at USF Health will also receive an interprofessional education (IPE), an integral part of the health professional's education. Upon graduation, students will have gained the critical skills and confidence in their abilities needed to handle today's challenging health care experiences.
The USF Health Simulation Consortium is one of three universities in Florida accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, however USF is the only fully accredited university in all areas of Assessment, Research, System Integration and Teaching/Education.
Note: Students admitted to the Nurse Anesthesia program or Graduate Certificate in Advanced Pain Management will experience simulation at The Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) located in Downtown Tampa.
The USF College of Nursing has a simulation lab, and we get to see things on the model like wound simulation. Everything is similar to what it would be like in real life. Our simulation lab is going to prepare us to be real nurses, because of how realistic everything is in the lab. Christina Donna Schedin, BSN student, Upper Division
