The College of Nursing and College of Public Health offer an Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (MS/MPH) master's program in Adult Nurse Practitioner/Occupational Health. This program provides training to prepare advanced occupational health nurses for practice at diverse work settings, including direct clinical practice and occupational health program development, administration and management. The student concurrently earns two degrees: a Master of Science (M.S.) from the College of Nursing as an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) from the College of Public Health in Occupational Health. The program is open to RNs with a baccalaureate degree in nursing or another discipline. An admission option for the Associate Degree Nurse is also available. Graduates are qualified for State of Florida licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (A.R.N.P.) in ANP and may apply to take the American Nurses Association Credentialing Examination in Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP). The occupational health nursing courses also fulfill some of the educational requirements for taking the Occupational Health Nursing Certification examination (COHN-S). Occupational Health Nursing trainees complete core courses in nursing and public health and specialty courses in adult primary care and occupational health/occupational health nursing. Students have opportunities for interdisciplinary learning experiences with other occupational health specialty disciplines in industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, safety, and toxicology. Both full-time and part-time enrollment is available. Many nursing courses are offered web-based distance learning. Tuition/fee payments are available for both full-time and part-time matriculated students and stipends for full-time students pending available monies.
