Hematology & Oncology
The Division of Hematology/Oncology treats a wide array of conditions affecting the blood, in addition to any cancers. The Division’s healthcare providers currently mange patients with sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura, hypercoagulable state, leukemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma and numerous other pediatric conditions. Referrals are made by regional primary care providers who desire specialized care for their patients.
Inpatient and outpatient services are provided. Hospitalized patients are seen daily, and outpatients are seen in clinic three days a week. A specialized clinic for patients with sickle cell anemia is held Friday afternoons. Providers are on call for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
