Faculty, Admin, and Staff are entitled to traditional benefits such as insurance, retirement, holiday, vacation and sick leave time, as well as university related benefits such as the credit union and tuition waiver. Temporary employees have the opportunity to purchase insurance through the state system. New Employees have 60 days to enroll People First. Open enrollment usually comes in late October or early November; changes done in open enrollment will take effect January 1st of the next year. (Please review the OPS Benefits handout below.) Leave. All employees are expected to adhere to work schedules established for their position. For Staff, any work in excess of eight hours per day must be authorized in advance by the immediate supervisor prior to being performed because of the potential for overtime pay (i.e, more than 40 hours per week). All absences, including tardiness, except for acute illness or emergencies, must be request and approve in advance and entered in GEMS Self Service leave system.
