Online Course Development

The Office of Educational Technology and Assessment is committed to providing a collaborative environment that supports faculty and students to effectively use technology in their online courses to positively influence their teaching/learning experience.
  • Instructional Design Framework – ADDIE

    Learn More

All online courses at the USF College of Public Health are designed using the ADDIE framework. ADDIE is an instructional systems design (ISD) framework used by instructional designers and training developers to develop effective courses. The name is an acronym for the five phases it defines for building training and performance support tools:
    • Analysis
    • Design
    • Development
    • Implementation
    • Evaluation
When developing or revamping an online course, an instructional designer will work with faculty to ensure that all elements of the ADDIE framework have been implemented into each course.
  • Quality Matters

    Learn More

Online course design quality is accessed using Quality Matters. QM is a faculty-centered, rubric-based, peer review process designed to certify the design quality of online courses. The QM rubric will serve as a guide for the instructional designer as he/she helps prepare your course. It is recommended that all courses be reviewed using the rubric after the course has been taught at least two times, this will allow for helpful recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Training Grants & Workforce Development

    Learn More

The ETA instructional designers routinely assist with developing online modules for training grants and projects. To scope the project, assess deliverables and project a timeline, a consultation with the ETA Director is necessary. The ETA office can coordinate alternate delivery platforms to design, develop and offer online workforce development training programs to participants who are geographically dispersed.
