InterAmerica Stage, Inc. Brings Safe Equipment, Processes to Entertainment Industry

07/30/2012 06:09 pm

InterAmerica Stage, Inc. of Sanford recently received a Sunshine State Safety Recognition Award from USF SafetyFlorida. This is the stage/theatrical rigging and specialty performance equipment company’s first Sunshine State award.

InterAmerica Stage provides contracting, consulting, project management, design, fabrication, installation and maintenance services for broadcast and entertainment industries around the world. From unique motorized and computer-controlled rigging hoists, stage drapery, stage lifts, projection screens and fire safety curtains to its SkyDeck tension wire grid system (which provides safe work access for theater lighting, audio cables, loudspeakers and more), there’s not much behind-the-curtain that this company does not do.

InterAmerica Stage, Inc. employees hold the Sunshine State Safety Recognition Award flag. The company received its first Sunshine State award from USF SafetyFlorida in July 2012.

The hazards associated in the stage rigging and specialty equipment industry run the gamut: falls; electrical; welding/cutting hazards; unguarded or unsafe use of equipment or tools; hazards associated with chemicals, solvents and paints in the production shop; flying or falling objects in the shop or out in the field; and material handling including rigging, to name a few. Keeping the company’s 30 employees safe, whether at its headquarters, adjoining fabrication shop or at a worksite, is top priority. “Our commitment to safety and quality is unparalleled,” its website describes.

USF SafetyFlorida’s Pat Stark assisted the company with an on-site consultation at its headquarters. “The company demonstrated an interest in moving towards a safety and health management system and injury illness prevention plan and, during the process, involved top management, middle management, supervisors and employees in this process,” says Stark. Jeff Craycraft, an employee of InterAmerica Stage says he has had the privilege of working in the shop, out in the field and at the company’s office. “From day one, safety has been a top priority. I have never worked for a company that has the commitment to safety that InterAmerica Stage, Inc. possesses,” says Craycraft.

USF SafetyFlorida gives its Sunshine State Safety Recognition Award to Florida small businesses that demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and health efforts. To earn the award companies must receive an on-site consultation; correct any hazards, if found; and involve employees in the company’s safety and health efforts.
