Since August 1994, Luis M. Silva has dedicated his career to the field of occupational safety and health; with over 20 years of combined experience in occupational safety and health regulatory compliance and program management for both compliance and consultation; including OSHA program management and State Plan program administration. Before coming to the Florida Consultation Program, Mr. Silva served for over 14 years in different capacities, as a Compliance Officer, as a Consultation Program Manager and as a Division Director, OSHA State Plan Administrator for the State of Utah. His knowledge and experience conducting occupational safety and health work; added to extensive technical training from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Training Institute, prepares him to deal with a variety of industries and different types of operations; with their unique safety and health hazardous conditions and challenges. Also, conducting industrial hygiene sampling and analysis for compliance inspections and surveys in general industry and construction; provide Mr. Silva with a unique perspective to evaluate safety and health systems, from hazard recognition to safety and health program assessment. Mr. Silva sincerely believes the fundamental principles of an effective safety and health system are commitment and participation; of both management and workers; striving together with a common mission and desire in mind: “To make safety a part of their daily lives; elevating their safety and health culture to a higher level of excellence”.
