Meet WIRES Founder

Rayna Letourneau, PhD, RN

Rayna Letourneau, PhD, RN

Dr. Letourneau has made it her work's purpose to create a highly educated, competent nursing workforce and advance the impact of nursing on the health and wellness of our nation. Dr. Letourneau's scholarship focuses on nursing workforce development, transition to practice, nurses’ health and wellness, and quality and safety education for nurses.

Dr. Letourneau is an assistant professor at the University of South Florida College of Nursing and has more than ten years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and the master's levels. She has taught face-to-face, blended, and fully online nursing and interprofessional courses.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Rhode Island in 2002 and 2008, respectively. In 2017, she earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She's earned a certification in online teaching from the Online Learning Consortium.

Dr. Letourneau is the program director of the University of South Florida College of Nursing’s Frontline Nursing During COVID-19: A New Paradigm and host of the Frontline Nursing Podcast series. Additionally, Dr. Letourneau is the founding director of WIRES™, the College of Nursing’s Office of Wellness, Innovation, Resources, Education and Support for the Health Care Workforce.

She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Florida Nurse’s Association, Emergency Nurses Association, Florida Organization of Nurse Executives, Tampa Bay Organization of Nurse Executives, and Nursing Action Coalition of Florida. She is an appointee to the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Academic Task Force Advisory Board. Additionally, Dr. Letourneau serves as a member of the executive team for the Nursing Action Coalition of Florida and the advisory board for the TruMont Apprenticeship Committee.
