The History of the Cahill Symposium
David W. Cahill, M.D. was an internationally renowned neurosurgeon of “alarming intelligence” noted for his teaching and his innovation in spinal instrumentation.
His contributions to the field of neurosurgery are recorded in more than 100 published articles and books. Cahill's publications can be viewed by clicking here. He was loved by his residents, respected by his colleagues, and feared by any who attempted to challenge his breadth and depth of knowledge. He is remembered as a consummate surgeon, devoted to family and patients.
The Cahill Symposium was originally designed for practicing physicians in neurosurgery, neurology, spine surgery and nurses/physician assistants.
The 2020 Cahill Symposium has been postponed in consideration of the ongoing COVID19 Situation.
We wish everyone the best of health, and will be looking at future dates for rescheduling!
This year, the Symposium has been revised to target Neurosurgery Residents in training, offering a full day of cadaveric work under the tutelage and direction of key Spine Faculty members from USF and outside institutions. Distinguished and invited USF faculty present information on surgical aspects, conventional therapy, underlying physiology of targeted therapy, and clinical trials. Through generous grants provided by industry sponsors, we are able to offer this course at no cost to residents, and will cover the cost of round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations the night of May 7th.
