The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine is dedicated to healthcare advances through scientific research, in addition to clinical research. The research conducted is of compassionate care for patients with critical illness, thoracic diseases and sleep-related disorders. Through clinical research faculty, research associates, and staff can exemplify years of dedicated time and experiences to progress medicine with patients who meet the needs of the division’s specialties.
The Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is Dr. Jose D. Herazo-Maya, who is highly trained in functional genomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics. He pioneered the application of precision medicine to identify molecular predictors of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and COVID-19 mortality.
