We are privileged to care for over 120,000 patients annually through the TGH Main ED and our free-standing ED (Brandon Healthplex). We treat a high-acuity patient population that spans the cultural and economic gambit from the underserved community to some of America’s most notable sports icons who share Davis Island with us. Regardless of race, ethnicity or social status, our team is committed to delivering the highest level of medical care and satisfaction to every individual who walks or is wheeled through our doors.
We have exceptional faculty members who are mentors with national reputations for excellence in education, research, & leadership in emergency medicine & its subspecialties.
In addition, we believe that residents should train in an environment where they are equipped to reach their full potential. We are invested in developing the next generation of healthcare providers and leaders. Graduates from our program have gone on to other academic medical centers, international health systems, community hospitals and public health/EMS agencies. Our trainees care for a highly diverse, patient population with a tremendous spectrum and high acuity of disease. We have exceptional faculty members who are mentors with national reputations for excellence in education, research, and leadership in emergency medicine and its subspecialties. Our directors and faculty have developed a dynamic learning environment where the educational curriculum is continuously evaluated and evolving to incorporate innovative learning theories and strategies such as asynchronous learning, FOAM, interactive small group discussion, flipped classroom sessions and multidisciplinary simulation at our world-class CAMLS Simulation Center in downtown Tampa. Residents have ample opportunity to participate in teaching, research, ultrasound, EMS, and administrative activities through faculty mentorship and potential fellowships. We collaborate in an outstanding collegial and supportive environment with peers from all walks of life.
Our Research Division is actively conducting numerous clinical trials to answer some of the most vexing medical issues of our time. These include cutting-edge, NIH–funded research including both the opioid crisis and the COVID-19 epidemic to name a couple. Members of our faculty also provide medical direction for Tampa Fire-Rescue, Hillsborough County Fire-Rescue, Pinellas County Fire-Rescue and Aeromed, our helicopter critical care/EMS program serving 23 Florida counties.
Our goal is simple: to improve the lives of our patients through excellence in patient care, education, and research and ensure that all residents have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in an environment that allows them to reach their full potential.
Quality is our credo.
