Award of Excellence

The Award of Excellence (AoE) was developed as an objective process to measure the quality and safety of Alzheimer’s assisted living facilities. In addition to design elements, facilities are evaluated on staff training, resident activities and family engagement. The process for earning the Award of Excellence includes an application followed by a site visit. If all criteria are met and verified, assisted living facilities can earn this industry achievement. Recommendations are made to reach compliance and resubmission within a given time frame is possible.

Annual renewals are given to those facilities who maintain the highest levels of care, service and safety. As a recipient, families know that their loved ones will receive the best possible care.

The Application Process

Facilities must complete a detailed application to demonstrate how they have achieved specific criteria and objectives. Application packets are reviewed by experts in the field of Alzheimer’s disease care identified by the USF Health Byrd Institute. The evaluation process also includes a site visit and interview.
