PECO Minor Renovations

Dear Colleagues:

As the Chair of the USF Health Space Committee and on its behalf, I am writing to solicit projects for abovementioned funding. For 2007-08, USF Health has received a total of $1,442,787 from the University for this purpose.  According to statutory requirements, $144,279 (10%) of this allocation has been set aside for Health and Safety Projects. The Space Committee will be working with the USF Health Office of Operations and Facilities to determine the nature and scope of these projects.

For funding purposes, projects that enhance USF Health’s RESEARCH and EDUCATIONAL capacity will be given a priority.

Please complete the request form (http://health.usf.edu/research/ods/Request_form_07_08.doc) for each individual project and forward an electronic copy to Ms. Christine Tam (ctam@health.usf.edu) no later than Thursday, November 08, 2007.  Please note that projects submitted last year for consideration but remained unfunded should be resubmitted for funding using the revised form. The USF Health Space Committee will review all requests and forward its recommendations to Vice President Klasko for his consideration. Please go to this webpage  (http://health.usf.edu/research/ods/PECO_Minor_timeline.html) to review the timeline for completions of this process.

As in past, the appropriation of these funds is governed by Florida Statute 1013 – Educational Facilities, and by Florida Administrative Code, Sections 6A and 6B – State Board of Education. The general criteria for Minor Project (Remodeling/Renovation) Funding are:

  • The remodeling and minor renovations and repairs funds may be used for the adaptation or an existing facility for new, expanded or enhanced programs/uses, but not to construct new space
  • These projects generally range in cost from $10K to $75K
  • Eligible facilities are limited to those for which E&G (general revenue) funds are provided for plant operations and maintenance
  • Furnishings and equipment are not eligible expenditures
  • The building shall be an existing satisfactory building only and at least one year old
  • Normal routine maintenance items should be referred to Physical Plant

I encourage you to please share the contents of this e-mail with key stakeholders in your academic units and advice them to actively participate in this process. If you have any question and/or seek clarification, please feel free to call my office.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Abdul S. Rao, M.D., M.A., D.Phil
Senior Associate Vice President - USF Health
