Welcome to the USF Health K30 Scholars in Patient-Oriented Research website. This new federally-funded program supports the development of careers in clinical research for physician-scientists and other multidisciplinary patient-oriented researchers.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Research Resources has awarded USF Health a K30 Clinical Research Curriculum Award entitled “USF Scholars in Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR)” to support the development of careers in clinical and translational research for physician-scientists and other multidisciplinary patient-oriented researchers. The K30 Grant supports the development and implementation of a two-year didactic and mentored research curriculum for M.D., Ph.D. and first professional degreed individuals licensed to see patients, which is designed to attract talented individuals to the challenges of clinical research and to provide them with the critical skills that are needed to translate basic discoveries into clinical treatments.

This website will provide:

• General information and updates for the K30 SPOR Program
• Requirements for the 2-stage application to become a K30 Scholar and a link to the initial electronic application form
• Commitments needed from Department Chairs and Division Directors for Scholars to participate in Program
• K30 Scholars in the Program
• Information concerning schedules, courses, and forms needed for mentored research evaluations and credits

We congratulate our K30 Scholars.

Ken Zuckerman, M.D., K30 SPOR Program Director
